With reference to one letter of the 9th July last and my reply thereto of the 31st of the same month, relative to a money order which passed through my hands in the year 1844 on Account of John Brennan, formerly of the Hongkong Police, I have the honor to acquaint you, that he is now under orders to embark in the course of next month for Western Australia. I think it best upon the occasion to report to you for your further information the steps I have taken in relation to that matter since your letter was lost.
